Pitso Mosimane Thanks Rene Weiler As Al Ahly Wrap Up Egyptian Title!
Pitso Mosimane Thanks Rene Weiler As Al Ahly Wrap Up Egyptian Title! The Egyptian giants wrapped up the title with a resounding 3-0 win over El Gaish on Saturday. The title was seemingly won before Mosimane and his team even set foot in Cairo.
Al Ahly’s title win means that Pitso Mosimane has now won 14 trophies in 19 years. This tracks back to his early days with SuperSport United.
Alas, despite this big achievement, Mosimane was quick to thank his predecessor Rene Weiler for the work that he had done before his departure.
When Jingles arrived at the club, Weiler had built a monumental 18-point gap between themselves and second placed Zamalek.
In all honesty, the league was all but done.
“Respect to Coach Weiler. I have just been called to finish all the games that he left behind. He had the League wrapped up. All I made sure was to finish with flair and in style” Mosimane said on his Twitter.
Mosimane also thanked the Al Ahly fraternity at large for the opportunity presented to him
“Thank Al Ahly SC, Egypt, Captain Bebo and his board, Coach Rene Weiler, Players, Technical Team and 70 million Ahly supporters for allowing me to be part of your history and archives.” Mosimane continued
They are now looking forward to the CAF Champions League Final. The showpiece event has been postponed until further communication.
Pitso Mosimane achieved the unique feat of winning a premier league title with two separate sides in the same season.
