Pitso Says Personal Issues With Motsepe Don’t Affect His Relationship With Sundowns

Pitso Mosimane has opened up numerous times about the issues he has with Dr. Patrice Motsepe and some individuals at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Diski365 understands that Sundowns have been demanding the signing on fee they paid Mosimane when he signed a new contract at the club in 2019, however, “Jingles” has claimed that it doesn’t affect his relationship with Bafana Bastyle.

“You got to understand how many years I have with Sundowns coaching and playing, so I am Sundowns,” Mosimane told journalists at the BMW Midrand branch.

“So, what is happening with the family of Dr Patrice Motsepe and myself. It’s a personal relationship and that doesn’t take away from the fact that I am Sundowns. I’m Sundowns, and by the way I coached, and I played for Sundowns, so I have so much in that space than who is the owner of Sundowns now.

“I told you about five owners so I’m Sundowns, I have a relationship with Sundowns, my family is Sundowns. I have people and players that I have a relationship with at Sundowns. There is so much history that has happened there, so whatever personal relationship is between me, and you know, it’s not a secret.

“You know me, I stand my ground. I have an opinion. I respect but I don’t want anybody to dim my light. If you dim my light, I come out. So that’s me. Mamelodi Sundowns gave me an opportunity to win the Champions League. I would never be at Al Ahly if I was not at Sundowns and I would never win the Champions League if I didn’t have the resources of Mamelodi Sundowns to buy players, like [Hristo] Stoichkov and all those others who have spent so much more money than me. So this thing has been there,” he added.

Mosimane on the other hand has been complaining about CAF being against him at Al Ahly. Mentioned that when he went to FIFA Club World Cup, it clashed with the Africa Cup of Nations, meaning he didn’t have most players as they were serving national teams.

He also went on to question the CAF Champions League final venue decision after it was staged in Morroco – the home country of their opponents Wydad Casablanca.

“But we have personal issues and we put it in Morocco. It’s for me, I know. It’s against me, leave Al Ahly. But it’s ok, it’s football and we move on. But I say what I want to say and I say it personally, straight to the relevant person,” he told media.

“When CAF and FIFA decided that I should not play with 11 players in the World Cup, when everybody knew the dates for a long time, I spoke my mind against CAF and FIFA.

“Now, I spoke my mind about CAF not giving the venue until Wydad won 3-1 against Petro and then the venue is in Morocco. I mean really, what is this? We might as well have put the venue of the UEFA Champions League final in the Santiago Bernabeu against Liverpool, put it there and then it’s simple, it’s finished.

“But these things do happen, it’s part of football, it’s part of African leadership. I’m the coach, and I have to coach a team and I have to believe we can win in Morocco and that’s the ‘neutral venue we played in.”
