Portugal Thump Luxembourg in UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers! The European giants added another win to add to their first match.

Portugal defeated Luxembourg 6-0 in their UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifier. They have now scored 10 goals in two matches as they sit top of their group.

They defeated Liechtenstein 4-0 in their first match, meaning that this victory sees them happily top their group at this stage. Cristiano Ronaldo scored another brace, increasing his international goalscoring record.

Joao Felix, Bernardo Silva, Otavio and Rafael Leao all added their names to the scoresheet.

“It’s never easy to play against this team.” Head coach Roberto Martinez told the national team website.

“Luxembourg plays with a lot of intensity, looking for transitions, but our start [of the game] was very strong. We stopped Luxembourg’s possible counterattacks and, as a team, we created clear and very well finished opportunities.

“A complete game for our game without the ball, the reaction to the loss and keeping the goal at zero was the reason for winning the match.

“It’s important to play as a team, with the ball you need width. A lot of work in training the players to understand what we want and, therefore, it was a very good internship, but we must improve and work much more together” he added.

Martinez also spoke on the importance of the iconic Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Cristiano is a unique player worldwide; he has the highest number of caps. The experience you have for the locker room is very important.

“All players have an important role. Younger players due to their inexperience and willingness to play and players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Rui Patrício and Bernardo Silva bring experience.

“It is important to make a bathhouse that is complete.” He spoke.
