PSL Football Returns This Weekend With MTN 8! The PSL returns back after a one month pre-season. South African football concluded on the 12th of September when Mamelodi Sundowns won the Nedbank Cup against Bloemfontein Celtic.
The MTN 8 kicks off at 15:00 when Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila host SuperSport United. This will be TTM’s first official fixture as a PSL side.
The Limpopo based outfit only released their first team for the new season on Thursday evening. This will be the first time that all the new players play together in an official fixture.
Their match readiness and team chemistry will be put to the test. SuperSport United are the much favoured side in this game.
The second game of the day will see Orlando Pirates play host to Cape Town City. The Cape outfit have lost key man Kermit Erasmus to Mamelodi Sundowns over the summer.
They’ve brought in defender Terrence Mashego from TS Galaxy. They’ve also seen the return of star man Aubrey Ngoma on a one year loan deal.
Orlando Pirates on the other hand have seen wholesale changes at the club. The Buccaneers released a total of 8 players over the transfer window.
They’ve brought in a total of 7 players themselves, including Bafana Bafana captain Thulani Hlatshwayo. This will be the first time all the new players play together.
On Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs take on Maritzburg United in the afternoon game. Kaizer Chiefs have had a quiet transfer window, due to a FIFA sanctioned transfer ban.
Their big new name signing is Coach Gavin Hunt. The 4-time PSL winner was not attached to any club after Bidvest Wits were left extinct.
Whereas Maritzburg United have seen 4 signings made by Chairman Farook Kadodia. Among the 4 signings is José Ali Meza.
Mamelodi Sundowns have signed a staggering 13 players over the transfer window. They’ve also seen changes in their technical staff.
They take on Bloemfontein Celtic in the evening fixture. Siwelele lost to Sundowns in the last game of last season.
