Pyramids FC Move to Block Kaizer Chiefs from Signing Fiston Mayele

As Fiston Mayele’s contract edges toward its June 2026 expiration, Egyptian giants Pyramids FC are making proactive moves to ensure the prolific striker remains in their ranks—and to complicate any potential transfer, especially from Kaizer Chiefs.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Pyramids FC are fully aware of the mounting interest in Mayele, particularly from Amakhosi, who have reportedly identified the Congolese forward as a top target for the next season. To ward off suitors, the Cairo-based outfit is said to be tabling a lucrative new deal that would keep Mayele at the club until June 2028.

“They are doing everything to keep him,” a source told Soccer Laduma. “They know there is interest not just from Kaizer Chiefs but other clubs as well, and they want to make sure they keep him. So they have offered him a new two-year contract which increases his value as well.”

Despite the offer, it appears Kaizer Chiefs remain undeterred. Another insider confirmed that the Soweto club has not backed down in its pursuit of the 30-year-old attacker.

“Whether Pyramids are offering him a new two-year deal or not, Chiefs have made him their top target for next season after failing to sign him this season,” the source said. “So, although it’s believed that his team are offering him a new deal, Chiefs are still interested in signing him.”

Mayele, formerly of Young Africans SC in Tanzania, has proven to be an integral part of Pyramids FC’s frontline. His sharp movement, finishing, and overall presence have stood out, notably in their recent CAF Champions League semi-final clash against Orlando Pirates. Although he found the net in that first leg, his goal was eventually ruled out by VAR for offside.

Pyramids’ strategy to secure Mayele could serve dual purposes: securing their talisman for the long term while potentially driving up his transfer value should foreign interest materialize further.

As of now, Pyramids FC have not issued an official statement regarding Mayele’s future. However, with the player continuing to perform on big stages and clubs circling, the coming weeks could prove pivotal in determining where he plays his football next season.
