Rivaldo On The Comeback

A Brazilian from birth, one could argue that Rivaldo Coetzee shares a name with one of the most iconic Brazilian footballers of our generation. Defender-cum-midfielder, Coetzee has returned to full training to give coach Pitso Mosimane another option in his side.

The 23-year-old Northern Cape-born player who has fought tirelessly to return to training after 9 months on the sidelines with a foot injury, suffered another set back when he picked up a nasty leg injury following a dangerous tackle by Mogamad De Goede during the 3-1 drubbing of Stellenbosch last year, putting him on crutches.

It was feared initially that his season was going to be over but he has since made a quick recovery under the watchful eye of team doctors and physio-therapists.

Rivaldo whose season has been plagued by niggling injuries remains infectiously optimistic and is looking to build on the 10 appearances for the Brazilians this season in all competitions.

“It’s good to be back to being part of the team for the daily training sessions. I am just hoping to get stronger from here.”

“There are a few things I need to work on and I am looking forward to doing that. I want to help the team as much as possible.”
