Roger De Sa: "We Deserved To Win"

Ajax Cape Town mentor Roger de Sa believes the MTN8 Cup final win over Kaizer Chiefs was no more than they deserve, it was the best he has ever seen his side play. The experienced striker Nathan Paulse’s second-half penalty would eventually separate the teams at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, where the Urban Warriors showed why they are Premiership leaders with a dominant display against the now former MTN8 champions Kaizer Chiefs.

Ajax won against the likes of Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits on their way to winning their first piece of silverware since 2008, while the cup victory also saw De Sa ending a personal run of five final defeats in a row.

Speaking after the game, a very excited coach said: “I thought we were good value, especially in the first half. That’s as good as I’ve seen us play. We really controlled the game and it was all a bit one-sided.

“We knew it was going to change in the second half and that they were going to come at us more; they are a good side and obviously they are going to have some half chance.

“But overall I think we deserved to win it. You beat Pirates, Chiefs and Wits… I think you deserve the cup.”concluded De Sa.
