PSL Games Set To Resume

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced on Monday, 27 July 2020 that the league will resume with the aim of completing the 2019/20 season fixtures. The resumption date is set for 8 August 2020.

The PSL season will kick off with the Nedbank Cup semifinals, followed by Absa Premiership fixtures on 11 August.

The Absa Premiership was suspended indefinitely on 16 March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. At the time when the league was suspended, Kaizer Chiefs was in the lead on the log standings. Amakhosi have played 22 matches and amassed 48 points, four ahead of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a game in hand.

All the matches will be played in a Biological Safe Environment (BSE), with the Gauteng Province getting the nod to host all the teams and games. The Premiership season is expected to end in the first week of September.

Kaizer Chiefs’ remaining matches are against Bidvest Wits (home), Polokwane City, Bloemfontein Celtic, Stellenbosch FC, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest Wits (away), Chippa United and Baroka FC.
