Rulani Mokwena has heaped praise for Mothobi Mvala after he has produced scintillating performances as of late. He has transitioned from a midfielder to a central defender.
In the match against Orlando Pirates on the 30th of December 2022 when the PSL returned, Mvala partnered Grant Kekana in the Mamelodi Sundowns backline. He won the Man of the Match award after that game and has played every single minute since then.
He joined the club from Highlands Park as a central midfielder.

“There’s also Sipho Mbule and Bongani Zungu. Sipho Mbule in my opinion is a six and an eight at the most, but in how we want to construct things and the schemes.
“Mbule has this press resistance to be able to beat the press with a turn. [He’s] an incredible footballer.” Mokwena lauded.
