SAFA Respond to PSL No Show This Weekend! The two football associations have been engaged in an unsavoury back and forth.
The PSL announced that they would boycott the SAFA congress to take place this weekend. CEO Tebogo Motlanthe has responded to the surprising news.
Earlier this week, the PSL held an emergency meeting to discuss the SAFA congress to take place over the course of the weekend. Without providing any reasons, the association declared that they would not attend the events.
“The response is a clear one,” Motlanthe said, as per iDiski Times.
“When you get a letter without saying to you this is my reason, being from a legal practitioner, you need to get the reasons first before you respond.
“So, what we have resolved, because that statement was sent to me, it was just a press release, is to seek more information to say what the issues are.
“Of course, after hearing their side, we will then say if we can meet and resolve if they’re issues which need to be resolved.
“The agenda [for the indaba] was issued a month ago and given to all members. There were no issues with the agenda, so what we’re going to do is to write to them.
“Unfortunately, we’re caught up with these three major events but when I get a break I will write to the acting CEO of the league [PSL Mato Madlala] to ask for more particulars if it was a court case.
“But because it’s not a court case, we’ll need to know the reasons, what the issues are. Now it’s difficult to comment because you don’t know what the issues with the agenda which are was there for a month.
“The issue (of the PSL pulling out) just came at the eleventh hour. So, I will write seeking a response from them as a member of SAFA.” He spoke.
The association sought the counsel of Zizi Kodwa and Patrice Motsepe, for the matter. SAFA Respond to PSL No Show This Weekend!
