Samir Nurkovic Insists That There Is Still A Long Way To Go! The Amakhosi striker is coy to celebrating their huge victory over the weekend.
Kaizer Chiefs defeated Wydad Casablanca in their CAF Champions League semi-final first leg on Saturday. Nurkovic is adamant that they have to work just as hard in the second-leg in order to seal qualification into the final.
Samir Nurkovic scored a 34th minute goal which has given Chiefs a huge advantage going into the second leg.
“It was a great team effort and I was very happy to have contributed to the victory.” He told the press after the game.
“But we can’t be celebrating, it’s just halftime. On Saturday we are playing them at home and we have to win that game as well.
“We have to continue with the same spirit,” said Nurković.
Nurkovic became the first ever Kaizer Chiefs player to have a goal reviewed by VAR. The refereeing innovation stepped in and confirmed that the striker was indeed onside before neatly tucking in his goal.
“There is going to be less cheating. If it was not important, then none of the biggest leagues in the world would be using it,”
The second leg takes place at the FNB Stadium on Saturday. This group of players will be hoping to reach the final for the very first time in the history of Kaizer Chiefs.
“It’s a really good result away from home in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, so we have to be happy, It was a good effort by everyone in the team,” he concluded.
