Sandile Zungu Aiming For Top Honours in Upcoming PSL Season! AmaZulu finished the 2019/2020 DSTV Premiership campaign in their highest ever league position.

Usuthu finished in second spot. This is testament to the stellar work implemented by Sandile Zungu since taking over the club at the beginning of the campaign.

The Zungu’s took over from the Sokhele family at the start of the season. Sandile Zungu promised to usher in a new dawn at the football club.

He came in with a new technical and tactical team at boardroom level. This was then followed by changes to the playing squad.

AmaZulu unveiled 10 new players at the start of the campaign. This included the likes of Veli Mothwa, Augustine Mulenga and Luvuyo Memela to name a few.

Soon after this, Ayanda Dlamini was reinstated in a youth level position, leaving the head coach role vacant. In came all-time Bafana Bafana leading goal scorer and former Cape Town City head coach Benni McCarthy.

The appointment of McCarthy saw Usuthu soar to heights they have not before experienced.

McCarthy won the Coach of the Month award for two successive months. Tapelo Xoki and Veli Mothwa won the Player of the Month award in succession as well, respectively.

Benni then won the big DSTV Premiership Coach of the Season award.

Alongside Golden Arrows and Royal AM, AmaZulu were recognised for their stellar season by the eThekwini Mayor at a Gala Dinner.

“We extend our deep gratitude to the leadership of His Worship Councillor, Bab’ Mxolisi Kaunda and the Premier Sihle Zikalala in attendance. It was not our right for you to do this but you saw it fitting to reach out,” Sandile Zungu said at the dinner.
