Sergio Dos Santos Highlights Key Player for Chiefs Ahead of Kabuscorp Clash

A former Kaizer Chiefs coach has singled out a player he believes will play a pivotal role as the Soweto giants prepare for their CAF Confederation Cup first-leg clash against Kabuscorp this weekend.
Chiefs travel to Angola to face Kabuscorp at Estadio de Novembro 11 on Saturday at 17:00. This marks Amakhosi’s return to continental football since their defeat to Al Ahly in the 2020/21 CAF Champions League final. Chiefs qualified for the Confederation Cup after beating Orlando Pirates in last season’s Nedbank Cup final, while Kabuscorp secured their place by winning the Taca de Angola. Both teams finished ninth in their respective domestic leagues.
Sergio Dos Santos highlighted midfielder Miguel, who hails from Angola, as a key figure for Chiefs. “Miguel, being from Angola, should have insights into the Kabuscorp league,” Dos Santos said. “He likely has contacts who can provide valuable information about the local scene. Even without him, it’s not difficult to gather information about Angola. I’m sure Chiefs have resources down there that will help them prepare for their opponents this weekend.”
He emphasized the need for thorough preparation. “You can’t approach a match like this lightly; you have to do your homework. When you go there, you should be ready for business because it’s an important game.”
Dos Santos also issued a caution regarding Kabuscorp. “Kabuscorp may not be a well-known name, but if they’re in this competition, they are certainly a capable team, especially when playing at home. You have to respect them and ensure you play with composure. Don’t take things too easy, or you might be caught off guard.”
Chiefs will look to leverage Miguel’s local knowledge and their own scouting resources as they aim to secure a positive result in the first leg before returning to South Africa for the second leg.
