Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Golden Arrows 2-1 in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday night. Club debutant Sifiso Ngobeni was happy to play for the team he supported growing up.

The left back joined the black from Bloemfontein Celtic the beginning of last season. He didn’t play for the club at all, as he was eventually loaned out to fellow Pretoria outfit SuperSport United.

On Saturday, he finally made his Masandawana debut.

“Coming from Mamelodi, supporting Sundowns for me is a dream come true. I wish each and every single kid from Mamelodi could experience what I experienced today.” Ngobeni told the Mamelodi Sundowns media after the match.

“It was a very beautiful experience for me which I will never forget because I’m playing at my home ground. It was tough sleeping, but eventually after being calm and remembering what I can do, then everything just went well.

“In the change rooms I was very anxious, but everyone was supporting me, telling me that I’m going to have a good game. This being my first game, I will not look too much into the performance because I haven’t been playing.

“But I think I did good, and also working hard and also being patient, I finally got the opportunity and I think I did well.

“The game against Golden Arrows was tough because each and every team right now is coming at us because we’re the defending champions, so for us this season, it’s going to be tough because everyone wants to beat Sundowns. But today we did well, we got the win, so I’m very happy with that.

“Next game we’re playing against Usuthu, AmaZulu, so all I can say about them is that we know they’re going to come hard at us, because each and every team is coming to beat Sundowns this season. But because we’re champions, we will handle them and get the three points.” He exclaimed.

The Brazilians assumed number one spot on the table after the win. Sifiso Ngobeni Happy to Represent Hometown of Mamelodi!
