Marumo Gallants drew 1-1 at home to Kaizer Chiefs in the DSTV Premiership on Sunday afternoon. Head coach Xaniseka Mdaka was unhappy not to get all three points.

The hosts took the lead in the first half through winger Mahlatse Makudubela. The score remained like this until Amakhosi equalized thanks to Zitha Kwinika in the second half.

At this point, Bahlabane Ba Ntwa were down to 10-men after defender Ismael Touré got a second yellow card.

“A bit disappointed because regardless of the red card, I think this is the story that has been going on for a number of games now,” Mdaka told SuperSport TV after the stalemate.

“We lead then we concede, and the kind of goals that we concede are goals we can call ‘lousy goals’, so its frustrating. Much as we try to play well, the most important thing is to get three points.

“Once you don’t get three points then you’re always languishing at the bottom of the log. Players can’t express themselves that freely because you’re playing under pressure almost every time.

“And it should not get into our minds that we’ll always lead and concede, but what a game. I do not want to blame the red card; a red card is part of the game.

“We need to manage, when we have a red card, to be able to maintain whatever we have. That’s why I feel like it has gone [the win] just around the corner here.

“Obviously the red card changed things because you could see the toll it was taking on the players. The worst part is that we have key center backs who are already out.

“Our captain Lehlohonolo is already out on injury, Ayanda is out on injury, Sbu Khumalo, so you make a makeshift.

“Whatever we’re doing we’re just making a makeshift in the defense. So, you just have to take it. The one point, even though we though we’ll take three, will be enough for us,” he spoke.
