Sinoxolo Kwayiba Reflects on Return to Chippa United After Surprise Pirates Exit

Midfielder Sinoxolo Kwayiba has spoken publicly for the first time about his unexpected move from Orlando Pirates back to Chippa United. The transfer was confirmed by Pirates on Monday, just six months after Kwayiba joined the Soweto giants from the Eastern Cape club in July 2025.
The 25-year-old forward made just four appearances for Orlando Pirates without registering a goal or assist. His short stint at the Sea Robbers fell below expectations, especially given the high hopes surrounding his arrival.
Returning to Chippa United gives Kwayiba an opportunity to revive his form. The midfielder impressed previously, catching the eye of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos with a Man of the Match display in an international friendly against Mozambique in June 2025.
Speaking to the club’s media, Kwayiba expressed optimism about his second spell in the Eastern Cape. “Hello everyone, my name is Sinoxolo Kwayiba, a former Orlando Pirates player, but now I have moved to Chippa United Football Club, which is the club I was playing for,” he said in a short video shared on the club’s social platforms.
Kwayiba added that he is eager to fight for a starting position and contribute to the team. “I want to say that I’m happy to be back at home. Let’s support Chippa United, let’s fight together, and for me, I want to first fight for my position to get into the team so that I can play. What I’m trying to say is that can we please support Chippa United? We want to fight, so that’s all I wanted to say. I’m saying that I’m back, and let’s fight. Support us, please.”
Chippa United face a challenging season in the Betway Premiership, currently sitting at the bottom of the table with just one win from 15 matches. Kwayiba’s return is expected to bolster their squad as they aim to climb the league standings and avoid relegation.
