Siyethemba Sithebe Very Happy To Be Bafana Bafana Vice-Captain! The AmaZulu midfielder is one of the senior players in South Africa’s Cosafa Cup squad.

Siyethemba Sithebe will be the vice-captain of Bafana Bafana at the Cosafa Cup. He will be assisting AmaZulu teammate Veli Mothwa in their leadership roles.

Both Mothwa and Sithebe have had exceptional seasons in the DSTV Premiership. They have helped Usuthu reach their highest position of second place.

“I feel excited, I’m very happy to assist Veli Mothwa as vice-captain.” Sithebe told the media

“I think the coach has made a good decision. I think he sees something in me as well as Veli.”

South Africa will use the Cosafa Cup as a way to test the depth of the squad. A number of the best young players have travelled to Japan for the Tokyo Olympics.

This Southern African tournament will be a great way for other players to prove themselves to the new technical team.

“Me as a player I can see that all the other players are still young. The coach has all the quality that he wants.

“When you talk about all the games that are coming, next year there’s a World Cup and we’re gonna be playing qualifiers in November. I think all the players are motivated to be recalled in the squad for November, because we’re still young.

“I think we have quality; we’re young and motivated to do well.” The midfielder adds.

Along Captain Veli Mothwa, Siyethemba Sithebe will hope that their senior qualities are evident in the team. They are charged with inspiring the younger players in the squad.

“I bring the quality that I have and the hard work and everything else that I have I bring to this national team.” He concluded.
