Soweto Derby Weekend League Instalment Sold Out
The much-awaited Absa Premiership Soweto Derby between the arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates scheduled for Saturday 9 November is sold out.
Kaizer Chiefs released a statement on their website indicating that all tickets to the teams’ second meeting in as many weeks had been snapped up.
“The sold-out sign went up on Monday afternoon. City to city, from Loftus Versfeld, to Moses Mabhida Stadium and now FNB Stadium, SOLD OUT! ” read a statement on the website.
This is back-to-back of three matches in succession that will see the Glamour Boys play in front of capacity crowds which perhaps gives eraly justification to their current momentum as they go all out in search of some piece of silverware that has eluded them since 2014/15 season.
The Soweto Derby is scheduled to take place at the ceremonial home of South African football, FNB Stadium between the most supported clubs in South African football history.
The message from organisers such as SAPS, METRO Police, Stadium Management of South Africa and the Premier Soccer League is clearly to arrive alive, arrive early and enjoy the best of South African’s premier sporting event.
The public have been advised to avoid inconveniences such as those that led to the late kick-off at Loftus Versfeld in the game featuring Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The match will be shown live on SuperSport 4, SABC 1 and SABC radio stations.
In preparation for the blockbuster match, both clubs are involved in midweek games starting this evening where Orlando Pirates host a Maritzburg United that is enjoying a fine run under Eric Tinkler whilst Chiefs are on the road tomorrow to face relegation threatened Chippa United still searching for their first league win.
