Stellenbosch FC Contemplates Squad Changes as January Transfer Window Approaches

As Andre de Jong edges closer to a potential move to Orlando Pirates, attention has turned to other Stellenbosch FC players whose futures remain uncertain. Winger Lehlohonolo Mojela and midfielder Lesiba Nku are reportedly among those who could depart the Cape Winelands club when the January transfer window opens.

Sources close to the Steve Barker-coached side indicate that both players may be released, even if formal offers do not materialize. One insider told the Siya crew that limited game time this season has raised questions about their long-term roles at the club.

Mojela initially impressed after joining Stellenbosch at the start of last season, scoring and assisting in his first few matches. His progress was interrupted by a serious knee injury, which sidelined him for the remainder of the campaign. Though he returned this season, the winger has struggled to regain his early form and has seen reduced minutes under Barker.

Nku arrived from Mamelodi Sundowns in January this year and brought experience and versatility to the midfield. Despite this, he has also found consistent game time hard to secure, falling down the pecking order as the season progressed.

Reports suggest Stellenbosch could look to cash in on both players, but insiders say the situation is more nuanced. The club is considering a broader squad reset, and parting ways with Mojela and Nku could form part of that strategy, regardless of external transfer offers.

With the January transfer window approaching, Stellenbosch’s squad could see significant changes. Fans will be watching closely to see if Mojela and Nku remain or move on, as the club aims to refine its roster ahead of the new year.
