Chippa United Assistant Coach Morgan Mammila Explains Absence from Club

Chippa United assistant coach Morgan Mammila has addressed questions about his absence from the Gqeberha-based club since head coach Vusimuzi Vilakazi assumed charge. Mammila is currently at home in Limpopo, taking a step back from his daily duties with the team.
“I’m one of those fortunate guys for whom Christmas came early. I came home early, and I’m enjoying myself watching football,” Mammila told KickOff.com. He explained that the club asked him to work from home, and he embraced the opportunity. “I have been in football for many years without taking a break. This is the best time for me to take a break.”
Mammila stressed that the club continues to respect and support him. “The club respects me so much, they will look after me until my contract ends in June 2026. I think this is the best break for me.” While at home, he continues to monitor local football, attending ABC Motsepe League, SAB League, and NFD matches, providing reports back to Chippa United.
“Currently, in my position at Chippa, I am just a member of the club. I have no stress, I am relaxing at home watching football, and there’s also AFCON,” Mammila added.
Chippa United have struggled this season, sitting at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table and searching for consistent form. Mammila’s temporary absence highlights the club’s efforts to manage staff well while navigating a challenging season. His role, though physically distant, continues to support the club behind the scenes.
