Steve Komphela – “Extremely Humbled At How I’ve Been Treated”

Steve Komphela – “Extremely Humbled At How I’ve Been Treated”. The well-versed coach has been a stellar appointment so far in the Mamelodi Sundowns camp. He was appointed as an assistant coach at the club.
Steve Komphela is a much-travelled coach. He is also widely regarded as a comical figure in the football fraternity.
Komphela, alongside colleagues Manqoba Mngqithi and Rulani Mokwena were dubbed “Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego”. This is a title that stems from the legend of three men thrown into a furnace by King of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar II.

This is a title that the coaches do not seem to have responded to negatively at all.
“One is encouraged with the progress the team is making and I am also encouraged with the work coming out from the coaches who I am working with – Abednego and Shadrack – in terms of making sure that we always get something on set-pieces‚” Mngqithi told the media after Mamelodi Sundowns’ 2-0 over Cape Town City on Wednesday night.

Steve Komphela was a publicly ostracised figure after his time with Kaizer Chiefs. He was consistently mocked for his poignant dress sense and out of the ordinary post-match analysis.
However, after his time with Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows, he has wrestled back a positive relationship with the public.
Now at Mamelodi Sundowns, were success is almost second nature, he has long forgotten those dark days at Kaizer Chiefs.
