Steven Gerrard Excited as Bongani Zungu Trains for The First Time! The midfielder is in contention to make his first appearance for his new club in the Europa League tonight. They take on Polish side Lech Poznan.
Steven Gerrard was incredibly happy to have Bongani Zungu train for the first time with his new teammates.
“I’m extremely excited to have him available. I think it has been a long two weeks for him in quarantine alone in a flat in Glasgow.” The former Liverpool midfielder told the club website.
“He’s desperate to be involved so I’m sure it has been a long two weeks for the player himself.
“He trained for the first time today, which was fantastic.
“We managed to get a running machine and a bike and some dumbbells to his apartment, so he has been ticking over and doing a certain level of training.
“But obviously today he’ll feel that session because the tempo was high.
“We trained for just over an hour so I’m sure he’ll feel that later, but he’s happy and smiling and it’s great to have him finally with us.”
Rangers take on a Lech Poznan side that lost 4-2 to Benfica in the opening game.
“I watched that game extremely closely and both teams, but obviously at the moment my focus is mainly on Lech Poznan.”
“They had chances in the game and there could have been more goals as it was incredibly open.
“It was remarkably like watching a game of basketball where it was attack one end and then attack the other
“You had two excellent sides on show, but looking at what type of game plan I’m going to be looking for tomorrow, it’s very important that we stop counter attacks, that we are really organised and we have got a real good shape about us.
“If there is any space or we don’t defend properly and we are not aggressive out of possession, they are a team that can certainly hurt you.”
