Sundowns’ Wayne Arendse Speaks On Getting Messi’s Jersey
Sundowns’ Wayne Arendse Speaks On Getting Messi’s Jersey! It’s safe to say Sundowns players wanted Messi’s jersey more than they wanted to win the match. Not that we blame them, an original jersey like Messi’s can cost a lot of money at auctions.
The lucky man, Wednesday night when Barcelona faced Sundowns in a friendly charity match at FNB Stadium was Wayne Arendse. Arendse managed to swap jerseys with Messi and he was photo’d holding on to its dear life.
Wayne recently opened up about the moment he saw an opportunity to get the jersey soon after the referee blew the final whistle.
“I was at the right place at the right time. When the referee blew the whistle, I thought, ‘why not?’ It wouldn’t make sense for me to go ask someone else when I have the best player in the world standing right next to me,” he said.
“I asked him and he said, ‘yeah, no problem’. I respect him and I will cherish that jersey for a lifetime.”
But don’t expect the 33 year old to sell it. Wayne says he will frame it along with some pictures of himself challenging Messi and other Barcelona forwards from Wednesday’s game.
“No, I won’t be tempted to sell it,” Arendse said.
? Wayne Arendse won’t be letting that out of his sight! ?
