Cape Town City drew 0-0 with Swallows FC in their MTN 8 semi final first leg last night. Head coach Eric Tinkler feels that they should have comfortably won that game.

The second MTN 8 semi-final was a scoreless affair at the Athlone Stadium. But this was not down to the lack of trying.

Both teams created valuable opportunities which were not taken by both sets of forwards.

“Ja, today I thought it was a very dominant performance by us,” Tinkler said after the game.

“We knew that Swallows were going to be a very, very difficult team in terms of how they play the formation that they utilise, playing with the fullbacks going inside, we changed our formation slightly to try and catch them, we tried to be a little bit brave in terms of the players that we played in this game, very offensive.

“And I thought we created so many chances, we hit everything barring the back of the net, we hit the post, the goalkeeper had to make few saves, some clearances nearly off the line from their players, just that final third we didn’t get the goal.

“But I thought it was a dominant performance by us. And the only real time that they caused any threat was really on the counter.

“And you know, even at halftime we rectified that error, we didn’t really play with a natural holding midfielder today but we asked Bibo or Mdu to do that and in the second half, they didn’t hit us on the counter anymore.” Tinkler added.
