Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Marumo Gallants 1-0 in the DSTV Premiership last night. Co-coach Rulani Mokwena was unhappy with the officiating of the match.

Midfielder Sphelele Mkhulise scored the only goal of the match to secure the three points. This was their first domestic match in over two weeks.

“I never speak about the officiating but my goodness, if those two aren’t penalties, then I don’t know. Good win, congratulations to the boys, very important win, three points, and we move.” Mokwena told Thato Moeng of SuperSport TV.

When he was asked, he refuse to further speak on the matter of the refereeing in the match.

“I’d rather not Thato, I don’t want to be called to the DC. I don’t get paid enough to pay off fines, so no.” he shrugged off.

“Dan Dance’s teams are like that. They fight until the end.

“We always had the feeling that the game is not over. We needed the second and maybe even the third [goal] to make sure that we get the points.

“We were very good in the first half I think, very very good. Positionally excellent, ball speed excellent.

“The creation of the chances was very good, maybe a little bit of composure inside the box and to be a little more clinical.

“But congratulations to the boys, not easy to play these games. Particularly midweek, prior to a very very big game, so an important three points that makes us move a little bit closer to our objectives.

“We’re very proud of them and congratulations to the entire club, congratulations to the supporters, they were energetic. They supported us and pushed the boys.

“Maybe the second half not so good, but we’ll improve, and we’ll get better, and we’ll make sure that we just keep working hard and try to get better.” He added.
