Former Goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo In Recovery After Stabbing! Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper was stabbed in Umlazi on Saturday morning. Khuzwayo was rushed to hospital after the incident and is now recovering from the wound.

Brilliant Khuzwayo was meant to speak at the Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) sports event on Saturday morning. He was meant to speak alongside former MUT captain and current Golden Arrows player Nkosinathi Sibisi.

“Brilliant Khuzwayo was invited to speak at the Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) sports event. Right before he could make his address, a male, believed to be a MUT student, stabbed him and he was rushed to the hospital,” Khuzwayo said on his Twitter page.

Kwa-Zulu Natal police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker confirmed that 2 unnamed suspects would appear in court after the incident.

“Counter charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm are being investigated by Umlazi SAPS. Both suspects, aged 23 and 30, will appear before the Umlazi magistrate’s court tomorrow [19 October]”, Jay Naicker said.

Mangosuthu University of Technology spokesperson Bheki Hlope confirmed that he had not heard of the incident, but will provide a statement at the soonest opportune moment.

Jay Naicker confirmed in a statement later released: “Police at Umlazi are investigating two counts of assault GBH as well as crimen injuria.

“It is alleged that yesterday [Saturday] afternoon two men, aged 30 and 23, were involved in an altercation at Mangosuthu University of Technology.

“One of the men claimed he was stabbed with a broken bottle and sustained two stab wounds on his left hand. The other claims that he was stabbed with a knife.”
