Tlhopie Motsepe Says All the Best Players Want to Join Mamelodi Sundowns! The Brazilians have the best squad in domestic football.

Mamelodi Sundowns have been able to secure the signatures of the best local players over the past decade or so. Club chairman Tlhopie Motsepe says that these players want to join the club.

Last week Masandawana secured the signature of defender Terrence Mashego. This sparked criticism that they are buying players that they do not necessarily need.

They already have the likes of Lyle Lakay, Aubrey Modiba and Sifiso Ngobeni at left back. They have also signed a plethora of high-quality players in the transfer window.

Masandawana have been accused of signing too many players, because of their resources.

“I don’t know where the criticism has come from in that regard,” Motsepe told the media yesterday.

“Players want to come to Mamelodi Sundowns because it is a place where they can improve themselves and achieve their dreams in football

“We have had the blessing and opportunity to welcome an incredible player [Terrence Mashego] and also said well done to a special [former] player in Hlompho Kekana.

“But when Hlompho was at Mamelodi Sundowns, he was playing and competing with Teko Modise and other players such as Tiyani Mabunda.

“So, it is iron sharpens iron, and the fact that these good players want to come to Sundowns is because they want to achieve their dreams and t want to improve as players.”

Motsepe does not believe that they are weakening the league.

“I said at the end of last season we can expect a very tough league after the success we had last season. It has been a competitive and tough league.

“We expect it to only get even more competitive.”
