“In the first half they were much better than us. We started the game bad,” said Mourinho.

“We started the game with some players really below their normal level in terms of their concentration and mental availability to play a game of this speed.”

“You need to be sharp the way you think and the way you play.”

“One or two players were below that level and the team paid for it.”

“But this is football and sometimes players disappoint managers and sometimes they give us great surprises.”

“I thought because of the characteristics of the game we could hurt them with some individuals with some qualities but they didn’t give me what I wanted.”

“Therefore it is my fault, I am the manager and it was my fault because it was my choice.”

“We scored the goal but it was outside the context of the game in the first half,” said Mourinho.

“The second half was completely different. When they play Fernando immediately after a couple of minutes exactly because they felt what everyone was thinking that we were in control.”

“We were much more dangerous. We had our chances to equalise and who knows what would have happened if we had equalised.”
