“Tsepo Masilela Is My Favorite Player”- Says Matlaba
Orlando Pirates defender, Thabo Matlaba revealed that Tsepo Masilela is his favourite PSL player. Thabo Matlaba has recently returned from injury and he scored in the Pirates impressive 4-3 win against Al Ahly in the CAF second leg semi final.
‘Festival had to be excluded from Bafana Bafana’s recent Central American tour due to his late arrival from Egypt, while Masilela who competes with Matlaba for the left back spot was excluded as he awaits the outcome of a SAFA disciplinary hearing.
“Honestly, we are enemies and opponents on the field for 90 minutes but after the final whistle we are human beings. The rivalry that exists between our teams doesn’t mean I can’t see the good things the man is doing,” Matlaba told Soccer Laduma.
“There was a stage when Tsepo was out injured for about a month or so. He marked his return in a Soweto Derby and our wingers could hardly go past him. I mean, that was impressive because not everyone can be out of the game for so long and still perform so well in a Soweto Derby.
“Since that day, I realised just how good he is. He is a quality defender and that’s why he’s my current favourite player.
“I know this will come as a surprise to a lot of people, but that’s how I feel. I won’t be jealous of Tsepo because of our rivalry,” Matlaba added.
