Mamelodi Sundowns 3:2 Richards Bay FC – Nedbank Cup
Peter Shalulile gave the hosts a deserved lead in the first half. Nkanyiso Zungu equalized from the penalty spot after Dennis Onyango committed a foul.
Mosa Lebusa gave The Brazilians the lead again in the second half. Shalulile made it 3-1 soon after.
Katleho Makateng scored what proved to be a consolation goal late into the game.
“I think we’re making progress; you know. Still lots to learn. You can’t come out in the second half like that, with a disastrous first ten minutes.” Manousakis told Julia Stuart of SuperSport TV.
“That’s where the game changes. We’ve worked so hard to get ourselves back into the game. You come out of the changing room, first ten minutes they blitzed us and then you’re always going to be up against it.
“So, anyway, it is what it is. Proud of the boys for some of the efforts, some of the moments. Naïve in a lot of the other moments, but we move on.” He stated.
The head coach insisted that he wanted his side to display the bravery they did from the first half into the second.
“The bravery was in the first half, to lift yourselves after that goal. To get yourselves back into it. And as is said, I expect to see that bravery when you come out after halftime.
“We all know it’s a critical phase and you concede two easy goals like that. I mean, another set piece, same against Swallows, so it’s a little bit annoying, but its tough for these boys and we keep going, we keep going.” He concluded.
