Watch! George Maluleka Does Extra Training Preparing For New Season

George Maluleka was facing adversity of limited game time at Mamelodi Sundowns in the past two seasons since he joined from Kaizer Chiefs where he was a heart-pumping machine for the club. ‘Mido’ as Maluleka is affectionately known parted ways with Masandawana at the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Brazilians had an option of exercising the contract for a further year but decided against that. Maluleka was quick to find another home as AmaZulu offered him a contract of two years with an option to extend for another year.

The former Ajax Cape Town and SuperSport United midfielder has been training alone to prepare for the new journey he’ll be taking with the KwaZulu-Natal-based club. He posted a video of himself in the gym alone and wrote a caption, “My MOTIVATION”.

Downs’ decision to release Maluleka came as a shock to many considering that he was starting to play towards the end of the season. The 33-year-old only had 19 appearances in the yellow jersey and will have a chance to boss Usuthu’s midfield considering his quality and experience. Royal AM and Cape Town City were also said to be chasing Maluleka’s signing alongside Usuthu who eventually won the race.

AMAZULU SIGNINGS SO FAR

AmaZulu are continuing to rebuild their squad after they let go of 15 players at the beginning of June. The ambitious management of Usuthu means business in constructing a solid team to compete for trophies next season.
