Watch! Jimmy Tau out on golf day

Usually, this is a sport for the business people who spend their part-time cooling down their brains after some busy days in the office but Jimmy Tau seems to be fascinated by golf too.

He recently posted some pictures and videos alongside his colleague Thomas Mlambo who has become a tennis regular player. Tau seems to be struggling to hit the golf properly as we hear some laughter in the video.

Tau is one of the long-serving football analysts at SuperSport and brings his expert knowledge of the game week in and week out. He took this job after he retired from football in 2013 following his departure from the club that he used to captain – Kaizer Chiefs.

The 41-year-old was playing for Maritzburg City before he joined Orlando Pirates in the 2002/03 season and won the league in his first campaign. He is one of the few players to have donned the jerseys of both South African biggest rivals Pirates and Chiefs. At Buccaneers, he played 73 games and scored four goals before he moved to the cross-town rivals.

It was in 2005 when Tau surprisingly moved from captaining Pirates to Amakhosi. That season, Chiefs were defending the league after they had won one the previous season under coach Ted Dimitru. Chiefs and Pirates met, Tau was there to feel the pressure of playing his old teammates.

“The game was the most amazing of my life and God’s intervention period in my life. I got to realize my dream of playing for my childhood club that I supported as a kid. It was a dream come true, I was fortunate to have played for both clubs and I am forever grateful for what both clubs have done for my career. But that Derby on 29 October 2005, where I won man of the match, will forever remain in my heart,” says Tau.

Tau went on to captain the club and won two Nedbank Cup trophies, two MTN8 cups, three Telkom Knockout winners’ medals, and the 2012/ 2013 Absa Premiership trophy.
