Watch! Khomphela Loves A Gym When He’s Not Coaching

Whenever Steve Khompela comes to the microphone, he gets everybody’s attention courtesy of his ever-educating talks. He’s one of the famous coaches in South African football.

Khompela is currently a senior coach at Mamelodi Sundowns and has been tasting the success with the club since he joined in 2020. He loves and lives the game but have you ever seen him doing something else when he’s off the field?

He loves a hard workout and his arms demonstrate the results of his hard work in the gym. From lifting heavy dumbbells and barbells to push-ups, he makes it look easy when doing it. Watch below.

Prior to joining Sundowns, Khompela was labelled as an “unfortunate” coach because he had never won a trophy despite being widely known as one of the SA’s greatest coaches.

In 2021, he got his first gold medal when Downs won the 2020/21 DStv Premiership league title. The most recent completed season saw him ending the season with three trophies as Masandawana won MTN 8, the League, and Nedbank Cup.

Mnqithi was one of the people who were happy when Khompela won his first trophy. “I cannot explain how excited I am; it is one of the reasons why we felt he should come and join us. We believe he’s got the ability,” Mngqithi said.

“He has done tremendous work with Kaizer Chiefs and very unfortunate not to win a trophy in that space. I think he played two finals; he was forever in position number two or number three in the league, he did exceptionally well.

“Unfortunately, he never really got to win a trophy, and it was not always his fault, and people were beginning to think he was just unlucky, even some people said that he would bring that bad luck to us.”

His title as “first-team senior coach” has been questioned by many. Some believe that he’s just an assistant coach and Sundowns gave him this title just because he has been a head coach for a long time that he can go back to being an assistant.
