Kaizer Chiefs was defeated at home to Chippa United in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday night. Head coach Arthur Zwane bemoaned the lack of character his team showed in the match.
Amakhosi took the lead when Siyabonga Ngezana headed in the ball from a Keagan Dolly corner. They went into halftime in the lead.
In the second half, the visitors were wrongfully denied a goal, judged to be offside. Karma was on their side as Siphelele Luthuli equalized soon after.
Calamity struck for Chiefs when Ronald Pfumbidzai headed in from a set piece, to give his side the lead in the 84th minute.
“I think we won the game before it started.” Zwane told SuperSport TV.
“You could see the way we started; we were a bit sluggish. We thought it was going to be an easy game.
“I had to jack them up at halftime, to make them aware, because let alone that we scored a goal, I think first half we did not dictate terms. We gave them too much time on the ball, we allow them to do whatever that they wanted to do.
“We didn’t show any character and we know we could have done better. Had we applied ourselves correctly, put them under pressure and force them into making mistakes like in the dying minutes.
“Look at how many chances we created in the second half. I believe that had we taken two of them, we win the game.” He added.
