“We were able to create situations when we had nothing”, says Itumeleng Khune

Itumeleng Khune’s rise to stardom makes for interesting reading and when interviewed by Top billing the top Bafana Bafana goalkeeper highlighted the tough journey he had to go through before becoming a professional footballer.

“We were able to get out of the situation which we were in which is poverty, and we were able to create opportunities when we had nothing”said Khune.

Khune goes onto highlight how his father sacrificed having to buy soccer boots, when there was another option of buying groceries which the entire family would consume.

Khune’s rise to stardom serves as an inspiration to many budding footballers growing up in poverty yet wanting to make in name in football.
