Real Madrid host Atletico Madrid tonight in the Madrid Derby. Zidane says that their opponents are the favourites to win La Liga this season.
Zinedine Zidane Says Atletico Madrid Are Title Favourites! Atletico remain undefeated in the Spanish top division this season.
They are 6 points ahead of Real Madrid with a game in hand. They defeated Barcelona 1-0 earlier this season.
“Yes, they’re showing that form now. They’re a team who are doing what they do best on the pitch.” Zidane said in a pre-match press conference.
“They’ve always been a competitive side and right now they’re in first place and we know what they’re about. All we’re thinking about is what we’re going to do tomorrow”
Real Madrid are on a two-game winning streak. They won against Sevilla last week and won against Borussia Monchengladbach in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
They recovered from a 2-game losing streak.
As a result of Real Madrid’s indifferent start to the new season, they are way off the pace in La Liga this season.
“You’re always asking about what’s going to happen. We have to play the game first. We want to deliver a great performance to show what we’re about as a team.
“It’s going to be tough because they are strong opposition and we’ll have to give it our all, not think about the result. This is a squad of players who are capable of extraordinary things and that’s all we’re focused on.” Zidane added.
Madrid cannot afford to lose against Atletico this evening. Defeat would mean that they would fall 9 points behind Atletico with a game extra.
