“We completely blacked out,” say Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertuğral
“We completely blacked out,” said Ertugral following Orlando Pirates’ record defeat to SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership clash at the Mbombela Stadium tonight.
The 6-1 defeat equals the worst ever defeat the Club has ever suffered in its 79 year history. Ironically, it was another Tshwane based side in the form of Mamelodi Sundowns who defeated the Buccaneers by the same margin in a BP Top Eight clash back in 1990.
Ertugral, who was speaking in a post-match interview on SuperSport, said he was disappointed and embarrassed of the result. The Turrkish born mentor also appeared to offer his resignation on live television.
“With a result like that I am ashamed of the situation….I have no other words. I have never seen a 45 minutes like that in all the club’s I have coached before. We completely blacked out. This result is an embarrassment to the Club of this stature, the supporters and everyone involved in the Club. I can only speak to my chairman tomorrow and offer my resignation,” said the 57 year old.
