Kaizer Chiefs’ Away Clash with Golden Arrows Moved to Moses Mabhida Stadium

Kaizer Chiefs’ next away assignment in the Betway Premiership comes with a significant venue change. The Premier Soccer League confirmed that Saturday’s match against Golden Arrows will no longer take place at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi. Instead, the fixture has been moved to Durban’s 56 000-seater Moses Mabhida Stadium. Kick-off remains at 17h30.

The initial fixture list had Arrows hosting at King Zwelithini, which holds just over 10 000 fans. However, Chiefs’ crowd-pulling power influenced the decision. Their fixtures consistently attract large attendances, and smaller venues often reach capacity. By switching to Moses Mabhida, organizers are preparing for a bigger turnout.

This adjustment comes after Chiefs’ first away trip of the season drew a full house at Athlone Stadium against Stellenbosch FC on August 10. Supporters are expected to show up in large numbers again, especially with Amakhosi in strong form.

Chiefs head into the Durban clash full of confidence. They have started the 2025/26 campaign with three straight wins, scoring four goals and conceding none. This run has given their supporters optimism after last season’s struggles, when the club failed to secure a Top 8 finish.

What excites the faithful even more is the historical context. The last time Chiefs won their first three league matches was in the 2014/15 season. On that occasion, they went on to win their first eight games and ultimately secured the league title with three matches to spare. That season, 24 points from the opening eight games built the foundation for championship success.

This weekend’s fixture will come just days after Chiefs face reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening. The quick turnaround means coach Nasreddine Nabi will need to balance intensity and squad management.

With momentum on their side, a bigger stage in Durban, and a surge of supporter optimism, Chiefs’ clash with Golden Arrows promises to be another test of their early-season revival.
