Durban City Frustrated in Pursuit of Kaizer Chiefs Striker Tashreeq Morris

Durban City chairman Farook Kadodia has revealed the difficulties the Premier Soccer League newcomers are facing in their pursuit of Kaizer Chiefs striker Tashreeq Morris. The club is interested in securing the attacker on a season-long loan to bolster their attacking options but says delays in negotiations are holding up the deal.

“Look, we had that interest, but there are some delays. I don’t know what the delays are from Chiefs,” Kadodia told Soccer Laduma. “We expressed our interest to show that we want him, and we are looking for Chiefs to finalise, and we are waiting for Chiefs now. We have expressed our interest, and now the ball is in the court of Chiefs,” he added.

Durban City see Morris as a key target to strengthen their frontline. The striker has fallen down the pecking order at Chiefs under coach Nasreddine Nabi, who has preferred options like Glody Lilepo. Chiefs have also recently reinforced their attack with the signing of Flavio Silva, making it harder for Morris to secure regular playtime.

With the new season underway, Morris is expected to face similar challenges at Chiefs, and a loan move to Durban City would provide him with the opportunity for consistent minutes and a chance to make an impact. The final decision now rests with Kaizer Chiefs, who must determine whether to approve the move.

Durban City remain patient but frustrated, hoping Chiefs will expedite the process and allow Morris to join their ranks for the season. The striker’s experience and attacking ability are seen as essential for the club’s debut campaign in the PSL.
