The visitors took the lead with a beautiful strike from Deon Hotto. City equalised with a first goal for striker Juan Zapata.
Substitute and fellow South American Darwin Gonzalez scored the winning goal in the 73rd minute of the game.
“It wasn’t pretty, to be honest, we tried something new today, in terms of the formation at the beginning of the game, and to be honest it didn’t work. They put us under extreme pressure right from the first [whistle].” Tinkler told Julia Stuart of SuperSport TV.
“I think it was after 15 or 16 minutes when they scored, I obviously had to change it up and go back to what we know better. I thought we started to come into the game a lot more.
“I don’t think it was pretty, possession for both teams, giving it away quite cheaply you know. Every time we put the ball into the box it was a threat, and we needed to do more of that, I thought especially in the first half.
“But today was a gutsy, gutsy performance by the boys. They really, really put it in, hard work, not easy to come back from 1-0 down, especially after the loss against SuperSport [United]. So, they showed great, great character, so I’m very, very, very proud of them.
“Coming back and winning this, they deserve it, extremely proud of them. Extremely proud of the technical team.” He spoke.
