Kermit Erasmus gave The Buccaneers a first half lead, as he scored a tap-in. Midfielder Yusuf Maart equalized for Amakhosi before the end of the game.
Defender Sandile Mthethwa scored the winning goal deep into extra time.
“Difficult to explain, it was a very emotional game, from the first minute I think, playing with a very high intensity, both sides.” Riveiro told SuperSport TV after the win.
“With moments for both teams, we started very well but I think after the lead, we couldn’t manage to play the same way. We were a little bit conservative, its normal though, it’s a knockout game, you’re leading.
“We didn’t have the best experiences here recently and all of those things usually play [a role]. I’m a very proud coach, what can I say? We have played now three games in a period, in a very short period [seven days].
“Playing in extra time, the way these guys fought. To have the chance, to have the right to play one more final together, to play for the club.
“I’m so happy. I’m so happy for the whole Pirates family, for the people who are behind us, for the players, for the fans, it’s a very special day.” He added.
