Stuart Baxter returns to Kaizer Chiefs after 6 years on a two year contract with the option to extend for a further two years. The last time the Phefeni Glamour Boys won the league title was under the Scottish head coach.

Baxter spent a very successful first stint with Amakhosi. In three years, between 2012 and 2015, he led them to two league titles, an MTN 8 title and Nedbank Cup trophy.

Baxter left the club to pursue other opportunities with SuperSport United and Bafana Bafana. He was relatively successful in both jobs.

He returns to South Africa after an unsuccessful spell with Indian Premier League side Odisha FC, where he was fired for expletive comments.

He failed to win a single match in his time in charge.

At Kaizer Chiefs, Stuart Baxter will work with Molefi Ntseki. Ntseki was Baxter’s assistant coach at Bafana Bafana.

Ntseki took over the national team reins after Baxter left. He was also just announced as the Head of Technical and Youth Academy at Kaizer Chiefs a couple of weeks ago.

Stuart Baxter will be assisted by Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard. Under Zwane’s interim mentorship, Chiefs managed to sneak into the top 8 on the final day.

They are currently in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League, where they face Wydad Casablanca of Morocco. This is the furthest they have gone in the competition and will be hoping to go further.

Unlike Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter will have the luxury of a full transfer winder, where he will be able to rebuild the ageing and depleted Kaizer Chiefs squad. Kaizer Chiefs Bring Back Stuart Baxter As New Head Coach!
