Kaizer Motaung Junior addressed the rumours that Kaizer Chiefs are interested in signing Andile Jali. The defensive midfielder will become a free agent at the end of the season.
With his contract at Mamelodi Sundowns coming to an end, Andile Jali has also seen his playing time severely dwindle, deeming him surplus to requirements. There are a variety of teams in the DSTV Premiership who are linked with him.
Kaizer Chiefs is the club where most see Mhlekazi joining, as a free agent.
“Andile Jali is a top player, achieved really, really big things.” The Amakhosi Sporting Director told Thabiso Mosia on Game On earlier in the week.
“He’s always been an amazing contributor to South African football. Many years ago, I think there was interest from the club when he came back from Belgium to see if he can come on board.
“I think the linking part is sometimes the one that causes a bit of tension because there is nothing officially from our side because he is a [Mamelodi] Sundowns player.
“The coaches they know how to make up their midfield and who they want. Andile is a Sundowns player, he’s not part of the thinking for us.
“That’s part of football.
“I think maybe the timing didn’t materialise and it’s just something that wasn’t meant for us.
“Obviously the rest is history, he went to Sundowns and achieved many things.
“He’s always a quality player – whether someone is 36, 38, 18, 24, I think his quality speaks for himself, he’s a top player.” Motaung Junior added.
