Orlando Pirates play against Royal AM in the DSTV Premiership today. Head coach Mandla Ncikazi knows what’s at stake at this stage of the season.

The Buccaneers have won their last six matches, which has put them second on the DSTV Premiership table. They are one point ahead of third placed SuperSport United with a game in hand on them.

A win today would go a long way in sealing a spot in next season’s CAF Champions League. The Buccaneers are also still in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup, where they will face Kaizer Chiefs this coming Saturday.

Pirates defeated TS Galaxy 2-1 over the past weekend.

“It’s a very challenging week. A challenging micro cycle.” Ncikazi told the club media.

“Considering the fact that we played on Sunday [30 April 2023, against TS Galaxy]. Nothing physical [that] we had to do.

“We only had to recover the players mentally and try to prepare for tomorrow [today]. We just have to be careful on how we manage the situation and I’m sure that we will manage it correctly.

“We have one mandate; to get the three points tomorrow [today]. We know what is happening and what is expected from us.” He added.
