Mhango’s agent shares more details of the meeting with Irvin Khoza
The snub of Gabadinho Mhango at Orlando Pirates has been one of the main subjects in the media with many questioning his whereabouts considering his first prosperous season with the Buccaneers.
Mhango’s early days at Pirates indicated that he was going to be a regular star after he found his way into the hearts of many Ezimnyama Ngenkani fans.

The exit of a German coach Joseph Zinnbaeur ahead of the current season saw the Malawian striker being out of favor with Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids in charge now.
Mhango shone with the stars of the world in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year. Everyone expected the forward to be the first name on the Pirates’ team sheet after the continent’s showpiece yet nothing changed. In the latest meeting he had with his agent and Pirates management, it seems like things ended his way.
“We had a meeting recently and both parties agreed by mutual consent to part ways,” Mhango told Malawian publication, The Nation.
“It is a huge relief to me because I was hardly enjoying game time. It has been a stressful season for me and I can’t wait to move on and, hopefully, this will be a new dawn for my career.
“Of course, there were issues, but they were blown out of proportion. I have been training hard…I have been outstanding during training, but surprisingly, the coaches have been ignoring me and there is nothing I can do about it. It could be something personal, I really don’t know.”

Pirates exercise option to extend Mhango’s contract
Mhango’s agent Mike Makaab clarified the situation saying Pirates have exercised the option to extend Gaba’s contract, however, they’re open to taking a good deal for him.
“Before we even start discussing next season, [I must state] the fact that Orlando Pirates have exercised the option to extend his contract which means that he is contracted to Orlando Pirates for a further two seasons,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM.
“We always knew that that would be the case, however, after sitting down with the chairman, he’s made it clear to me if we have a team that shows interest and the deal is a good deal for both club and player, he’ll consider it.
“I’ve spoken to Gabadinho and the most important thing is he’s fully committed to Pirates for the remainder of the season, he’s a professional. He has to do what he has to do as a professional football player.”
