Nasreddine Nabi Poised to Unleash Chiefs’ New Signings After Silva Debut

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi will have six new players ready to make their debuts following Flavio Silva’s impressive introduction over the weekend.

Silva announced himself with a goal on debut as Chiefs secured a 1-0 win against Golden Arrows. The Guinea Bissau-born forward had faced doubts due to previous struggles in Portugal and Luxemburg, but his performance in Indonesia gave him confidence before arriving at Chiefs this pre-season.

He joins Thabiso Monyane, Siphesihle Ndlovu, and Paseka Mako among the new signings who have already impressed this window.

Six new arrivals are still awaiting their first appearances. Ethan Chislett has received his professional clearance to play in South Africa, having spent most of his career in the English lower divisions. Nkanyiso Shinga is clearing fitness tests after delays with his ITC from FC Alverca and the Portuguese Football Federation.

Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman are waiting for appeals on their transfers from Cape Town Spurs to be resolved before they can play. Lebohang Maboe brings experience, with seven years in CAF Champions League football and 45 continental appearances.

Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro will also be available after a minor injury strain. His debut is expected following the FIFA break, starting with the league match against Sekhukhune United at FNB Stadium on September 16.

Attention will then turn to the CAF Confederation Cup first qualifying round against Angola’s Kabuscorp, with Marumo Gallants’ league match scheduled between the two legs. Chiefs will rely on their new signings to provide goals and impact as Nabi strengthens his squad for domestic and continental competitions.
