New Captain Nkosinathi Sibisi on How New Signings Are Settling at Orlando Pirates Ahead of MTN8 Title Defence

Orlando Pirates’ newly appointed club captain, Nkosinathi Sibisi, has opened up on how fresh recruits Oswin Appollis and Sipho Mbule are integrating into a squad eager to defend their MTN8 crown. The Buccaneers are set to kick off their campaign with a quarter-final showdown against Polokwane City at Orlando Stadium this Saturday, a match that could also mark competitive debuts for some of the team’s exciting new signings.

Speaking at the MTN8 launch event on Wednesday evening, Sibisi praised the quality and potential impact of the duo. “Oswin is a quality player,” the central defender told media ahead of the weekend’s fixtures. “He is going to add to what we already have. I think it’s going to be a special game for him to play against his former team.”

Appollis, a former Polokwane City standout, will no doubt be motivated to make a statement against his old club, and Sibisi is confident he shares the squad’s hunger for silverware. “I think he is looking forward to winning titles also with us, and it starts on Saturday against his former team.”

Sibisi also highlighted Sipho Mbule’s importance to the squad. “Of course he is happy, there is no reason not to be happy. He has come to win titles with us,” the captain said. “That is another quality player, to mention him, he is the Master Chef, so we know what he is capable of, and I think we will all get to witness another Sipho Mbule at Pirates.”

With both new signings already making positive impressions in training and behind closed doors, the Buccaneers’ camp is buzzing with optimism ahead of their MTN8 defence opener. Kickoff is set for 15:00 at Orlando Stadium, where Pirates will be keen to begin their quest for back-to-back MTN8 glory on a strong note.

Fans will be watching closely to see how quickly Appollis and Mbule can make their mark as the season gathers momentum, with Sibisi confident their integration will help the Buccaneers maintain their status as one of South Africa’s top football clubs.
