New Club Joins Race for Mamelodi Sundowns Star Peter Shalulile

A fresh contender has emerged in the battle to sign Mamelodi Sundowns’ key forward Peter Shalulile. The Namibian striker appears set to leave the Betway Premiership champions after being omitted from the MTN8 squad against Richards Bay last week.
Tunisian giants Esperance have been in talks with Sundowns over Shalulile’s potential transfer. Reports suggest Esperance submitted a $750,000 (R13 million) offer, but Sundowns reportedly want closer to $950,000 (R16 million). The deal might also involve South African winger Elias Mokwana moving to Sundowns.
While Esperance remain hopeful of securing Shalulile, Sudanese powerhouse Al Hilal has entered the fray. The club reportedly submitted a bid, though financial details are not public. This has sparked a bidding war between two major African clubs.
Sundowns had extended Shalulile’s contract by one year after it expired last season. This means he is free to negotiate with interested clubs.
Shalulile’s exit would close a successful chapter at Sundowns. The striker scored 101 goals and provided 26 assists in 205 appearances. He helped the club win six trophies and earned three league top scorer awards.
His departure would mark a major shift for the club as they prepare for the next season.
