TS Galaxy Push to Clear Final FIFA Ban Before League Opener

TS Galaxy’s bid to overturn their FIFA registration ban has seen significant progress this week, with the club lifting another restriction ahead of the new season.
The Betway Premiership side have been unable to register their new signings during this transfer window because of multiple FIFA-imposed bans. This forced them to play their MTN8 quarter-final against Sekhukhune United without key reinforcements, including Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi, Anslin William, Matome Mmolai, Mzwandile Dlamini, Siyabonga Nguessan, Onke Moletshe, Sedwyn George, and Veluyeke Zulu.
The absence of these players proved costly, as Galaxy surrendered a two-goal lead to lose 3-2.
Over the past week, the club has worked to resolve the outstanding cases. Three bans from December 9, 2024, December 19, 2024, and May 7, 2025, were cleared before the Sekhukhune clash. However, a fresh ban imposed on July 30 brought the total back to two. That latest restriction has now been lifted, leaving only the April 29 case unresolved.
One of the resolved matters involved a payment claim from Portuguese lower-division club Grupo Desportivo Alcochetense over former Galaxy winger Mlungisi Zwane, who played there as a teenager before joining the Mpumalanga side two years ago.
Galaxy have spent millions settling debts to various parties in order to clear four of the five bans. The final restriction must be lifted before their league opener against Durban City on Sunday, otherwise they will again be unable to field their new signings.
Coach Adnan Beganovic has expressed optimism that the matter will be resolved in time, saying he has been informed that all bans have been addressed.
The club also faces a pending case involving Jegbay Morris Konneh, who won a ruling at FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee for USD118,800 (approximately R2.1 million). Galaxy have requested the grounds of that decision, which delays the standard 45-day payment deadline.
The Rockets will start the season without several players who have left, including Keagan Dolly, Dzenan Zajmovic, Kamogelo Sebelebele, Sphiwe Mahlangu, Lebone Seema, Damir Sovsić, Marks Munyai, Lindokuhle Mbatha, Thamsanqa Masiya, and Jiří Ciupa. Khulumani Ndamane is set to join Mamelodi Sundowns.
