Yesterday, Jakub Jankto came out and revealed that he is a homosexual. He has received widespread support, including that of Brazilian superstar Neymar.
In an emotional video he posted on Twitter, the Czech Republic international Jakub Jankto revealed his sexual orientation. He became the latest and highest profile footballer to come out of the closet.
“It’s an important day,” Neymar told the press.
“Everyone is free, prejudices must be less important, whether it’s homophobia, racism, any form of discrimination. I didn’t know [that Jankto made the announcement].
“But every human being should be free to do whatever they want.” He added.
He spoke ahead of tonight’s fixture in the UEFA Champions League as PSG tackle Bayern Munich. Bayern head coach Julian Nagelsmann also showed his support for the player.
“I do think its courageous, but I think it’s a shame that we have to discuss it as courageous because it should be a normality,” he also told the press.
“It shouldn’t need courage to come out. The fact is, he is ultimately stepping into the shoes of many people that maybe haven’t been able to make these types of statements in the past and I think it’s a very impressive thing to do.
“I’m pleased for him that he’s done it and I hope that he would have a much more comfortable life as a result.”
